Since our inaugural set, KESHIKI, way back in 2017, Strangers Press has since visited Switzerland, Korea, The Netherlands, Lithuania, and Taiwan, and now we’re revisiting where it all began: Japan!

This time, our series title, KANATA, from かなた, translates as ‘far out’ or ‘beyond’, but also hints at a liminality, nebulousness, even tonal perspective; we feel it holds in entertaining constellation something of the concerns of each of the stories selected as well as expressing something compelling about the act of reading and the art of translating literature from other languages and cultures.

As with all our sets, it has been exquisitely designed with covers inspired by the stories themselves, with our customary, collectible flair. Feast your eyes on this lovely bunch of five...
